Creating a safe environment for people to work in is critical to their physical and mental health, a key enabler in reaching their full potential. Whilst the physical safety of all staff working in the engineering and construction industry has been the number one priority for many years now, the mental health side (experienced through high levels of stress, anxiety and depression) is definitely the next key area that needs close attention. This is why SPS supports Beyondblue (refer to website for more information).

Another area that SPS feels passionately about is ‘raising the bar’ on leadership in the Engineering, Building and Construction industry. This has led to the launch of the SPS Leaders Alliance, which is a SPS shared value initiative, looking to support the development of future senior leaders in the industry that SPS clients are part of.

Beyondblue is the Australian national initiative working to reduce the impact of depression and anxiety in the community by raising awareness and understanding, empowering people to seek help, and supporting recovery, management and resilience.

The SPS Leaders Alliance is aimed at inspiring the next generation of senior leaders whilst helping them build a strong network amongst young professionals working in design, consulting, construction and government organisations, as part of a movement to ‘raise the bar’ on leadership in the Engineering, Building and Construction industry.
